'Spellunker Collective' is the banner under which Nihaarika Negi collaborates with different multi-disciplinary artists to create work that spans across mediums and forms.
In her independent artistic practice, the work begins from performance and through the body, often taking inter-disciplinary flights that weave through mediums of film, direction, writing and producing.
Within the aesthetics of quietude and stillness, she is currently exploring the performative space that emerges through the confluence of the cinematic & theatrical.
Recurring themes involve the examination of the liminal – the spaces-in-between the traces of memories, fragments of consciousness and frayed ends of dissolving realities.
She has trained under the renowned theatre practitioner/pedagogue Phillip Zarrilli at the University of Exeter, in the psychophysical acting methodology whilst completing her MA in Physical Performance and Actor-Training (2011).
A diverse and intuitive artist she has worked in various mediums from theatrical works, site-specific/devised pieces, live art and performance to films.
She has further gained valuable experience through her work with ARTSADMIN and the critically-acclaimed Artist/Director Mark Storor, the LOTOS Collective at the BARBICAN, with the Award-Winning Artist Rosanna Cade at the SPILL Festival (2012) and with Jerwood Award-Winning Director Yael Shavit at the ROUNDHOUSE.
