Hello, I am Robert Ewell.  I live by the dump with my seven children, including Burris and Mayella.  I am an alcoholic and abusive towards my children at times.  Well, maybe I could change my ways, but the WPA fired me.  It’s all Atticus’ fault, he got my job!  It’s not fair how honest people are not permitted to make a living in this town.  I get relief checks from the government which I like to spend on whiskey.  Another pastime of mine is poaching.  Anyway, you may recognize me from Tom Robinson’s trial.  A Negro named Tom Robinson tried to rape my girl Mayella and I saw him, so I brought it to court.  Everyone in Maycomb should be thrilled that I won the case and put the criminal in jail.  However, because of Atticus Finch twisting my words, nobody believes me.  Atticus Finch came up with some ridiculous story that I witnessed Mayella trying to tempt a Negro, and got mad and beat her.  I’m just so glad that low-down Negro is finally dead.  It’s what he deserved.  Atticus Finch also deserved my spitting in his face, in fact much worse.  In addition, I terrorized Judge Taylor, who made me look guilty; and Helen Robinson.  I wish I could have gotten my hands on Atticus’s kids; that would have been the sweetest revenge.  Instead, that invalid Boo Radley had to come to their rescue and kill me.  I HATE THEM ALL!!!!!!!

Dr. Reynolds is the Maycomb doctor. "Had brought Jem and me into the world, had led us through every childhood disease known to man including the time Jem fell out of the tree house, and he had never lost our friendship. Dr. Reynolds said that if we were boil-prone things would have been different...” He is well known to Jem and Scout. He has a strong bond with the Finches.
